Story of Scouting
As one of the stages in the worldwide spread of the Scout Movement which is started by Lord Baden-Powell, Mr. Jothirathna a teacher of our school, and Mr. Kala Rasika started the 131st President’s College scout group on 19th February 2010 with the guidance of the principal Mr. Suedesh Nelumdeniya. The scouts who watched in the Negombo District Rally on 18 September 2010, were awarded membership badges on the 1st of October of the same year after various scout activities. It was our school’s first Scout badge ceremony. A one-day camp was held at our school during this month. The 8th National Scout Jamboree was held from the 26th to the 30th of December of that year and we participated in it. As the New Year 2011 dawned, the new students who came to the school also joined our Scout Group. As our first field visit, we went to the Aluthpala Ancient Rajamaha Viharaya.
